Fall is nearly upon us and it has been unusually hot for this time of year. Last week, it was close to 100 degrees for a couple of days and we were forced to live inside enjoying the comfort of A/C. The fall collections, magazines, and stores have been such a tease that I can’t help but wish for rain! Eventually I’ll back into leggings, sweaters and jackets… but for now, I’ll be sticking to my favorite classic cut-offs and light-weight fabrics.

Summer Swim Cover-ups
There are a few wardrobe essentials that are among my most favorite things to wear. These items are my most cherished and splurge worthy… they include: jackets, shoes, and cover-ups! We spend a good amount of time in swimsuits – by “we” I mean our entire family. It’s sort of an inside joke that we have very few photos of our family fully clothed. I suppose that’s what happens when you live in a warm climate and spend a lot of time at the beach or pool.
My love for beachwear began a few years ago when I was pregnant with Adella. She is a summer baby, born in August, so I spent most of of my time seeking relief from the heat at the beach. I loved the freedom of wearing swimsuits and gauzy cover-ups to cover my baby bump, and so my collection grew. I am always asked where I find my beloved cover-ups… some are simply from Nordstrom; others are a little more indulgent. A few things they all have in common is that they are vibrant, flowing, and unique. Here are a few of my current favorites – some can be found in my closet, and others are on the “lust list”!

Off to the Desert!
This year we will be spending Mother’s Day weekend with friends at a time share in Palm Desert! It’s always so nice to get away with other families that have young children; the kids entertain one another, and the big kids get to relax a bit and enjoy watching the little ones play. We love going to the desert, and our plan doesn’t include much more than lounging poolside, barbecuing, and simply having fun with our kids. I’m trying not to sound cheesy, but sometimes the hustle and bustle of everyday life causes us to forget how quickly our kids are growing, so we look forward to time away as an opportunity to re-connect.
The other moms and I have plans for a quiet brunch at another resort on Sunday. Well, it will probably start out quiet, then get louder as the day progresses sans kids! We might even sneak in some vintage shopping while we’re at it. When it came to planning for the weekend escape, there were a few necessities that couldn’t be ignored: sun hats, bright cover-ups, and a couple of new swimsuits for the season…
